Heliostorage Launches New ESS80 and ESS80P

Heliostorage has introduced its updated battery energy storage systems, ESS80 and ESS80P, replacing the previous ESS70 and ESS70P models. With increased storage capacity, improved solar integration and intelligent automatic control, the new systems are designed to give businesses greater flexibility in how they store, use and manage electricity.

Both models provide 80 kWh of LiFePO₄ battery capacity and combine battery storage, hybrid inverter technology and smart control software in one integrated solution. The ESS80 offers 12 kW rated power, while the higher-power ESS80P delivers 20 kW, allowing customers to choose the system that best matches their property and energy requirements.

“The ESS80 and ESS80P make it easier for businesses to take control of their energy – combining battery storage, solar integration and smart optimisation in one flexible solution,” said  Denise Conway, CEO of Heliostorage.

Smart Energy Management

A key part of the ESS80 and ESS80P is Heliostorage’s smart control software, which continuously plans how the battery should be used to help minimise the customer’s energy costs.

The system combines the day-ahead electricity spot price with PV production forecasts, weather forecasts and the individual customer’s historical energy demand. Machine learning is used to build and continuously improve a demand forecast based on that customer’s own operating history.

Using this information, the system forecasts when energy will be needed and optimises when the battery should charge and discharge. It can also decide whether available solar energy should be used immediately, stored in the battery or sold to the grid, and when stored energy should be retained for later use or sold.

This means the battery is not simply reacting to the current electricity price. It is planning ahead based on expected prices, generation and demand, with the aim of keeping the customer’s overall energy cost as low as possible.

Customers can also select operating modes to suit specific requirements, including self-consumption, spot-price trading, balance mode, manual control and emergency backup.

Peak shaving can help reduce high power demand, while Emergency Mode allows customers to maintain a selected battery reserve for use during a potential power outage.

Designed for Easy Solar Integration
The built-in hybrid inverter makes it easy to combine battery storage with solar power.

For new installations, solar panels can be connected directly to the battery without the need for separate PV inverters. This reduces the amount of additional equipment required, simplifies installation and helps keep installation costs down. The ESS80 supports up to 19.2 kWp of PV input, while the ESS80P supports up to 32 kWp.

For businesses that already have solar panels, the battery can also be connected to the existing PV system through an AC connection, adding energy storage and smart energy management without replacing the existing solar installation.

Flexible and Scalable Energy Storage
The ESS80 and ESS80P are designed as indoor systems with active cooling, real-time monitoring and plug-and-play installation.

For larger energy requirements, up to 10 units can be installed in parallel, allowing storage capacity to grow together with the customer’s needs.

Both models also include two programmable outputs, allowing selected equipment to be controlled and powered independently when required.

A Smarter Way to Manage Energy

The new ESS80 and ESS80P strengthen Heliostorage’s portfolio of flexible energy storage solutions. By combining battery storage, solar integration, forecasting and smart control, the systems help businesses reduce electricity costs, make better use of renewable electricity and improve energy resilience throughout the year.

Rather than simply storing energy, the ESS80 and ESS80P actively plan how energy should be used based on expected prices, solar production and customer demand – helping businesses get greater value from both their battery and their solar installation.

Companies interested in reducing electricity costs, improving solar utilisation or adding flexible energy storage are warmly invited to contact our sales team to learn more about the ESS80, ESS80P and Heliostorage’s complete energy storage solutions.
