China and Finland has for the first time cooperated on an energy demonstration project. The project was implemented by three Finnish companies: Convion, Savosolar and Heliostorage. The installation of solar panels and a 1 GWh bedrock energy storage was put into operation on August 17th, 2022. The Finnish tech company Heliostorage delivered a full BTES sytem including bunker and a connecting smart controller to optimize heat flows as needed.

Marko Tiesmäki, head of Business Finland’s Greater China region, said in his speech at the Official Commissioning of the Guangzhou Nansha “Multi-in-one” Micro Grid Demonstration Project, “the success of this project is a milestone in the bilateral energy cooperation between China and Finland, which fully demonstrated the sincere friendship and win-win spirit between the two countries.”
